Chhapak Movie Review: Deepika Padukone Manages To Transfer Human To You!

Chapak Movie Review Rating: 3/5 Stars (Three Stars)

Star Cast: Deepika Padukone, Vikrant Massey, Madhurjit Sargi, Ipshita Chakraborty

Director: Meghna Gulzar

What's good: Not only manages to move the human in you, but also creates unrest in your physical stature, while you're watching the movie, Deepika Padukone balances the smart performance between emotional and disturbing
What's worse: When it ends, it leaves you with an incomplete sense of how much better it can be and it's not a good thing to get out of it

Lou Brake: Maybe tempt some but those who know what the film is about won't need

See or not ?: Watch this for Deepika Padukone's performance and get some knowledge about some traditional laws, which makes no sense

User Rating:

Revolving around the life of Malti (Deepika Padukone), an acid-attack survivor, the story covers 13 years of her life. We see the ups and downs of his life from the 12th standard when the incident occurred to hear his court case. It begins Malati's search for a job and collides with Amol (Vikrant Massey). Amol runs an NGO named Chaya to help acid-attack survivors.

Malati unites her for this reason and goes through the traces of her journey through other survivors. It also has the courage to fight for the Public Interest Litigation filed by it to ban the open sale of acid. It is all about her that she goes through the fact that a few drops of acid cannot take everything from her.

Chapak Movie Review: Script Analysis

Before this Meghna, none of his two illustrious films (Talwar, Raazi) have been fully written. The story of Talwar Vishal Bhardwaj and Razi was from Harinder Sikka's calling Sehmat. Also in Chhapak, she gets Attika Chauhan (Margarita with a straw, waiting) on-board to help her with the story and dialogues. He manages the pace accurately to the base and is quite successful until the first half. My immediate thought at the break point was - "Most of everything is complete, now what?"

There are really chilling moments out there that will force you to adjust your position. An interviewer disregarding food in front of Malti, someone labels her & handicapped 'and moments that disturb the human in you. I have mainly four problems with the script - the dull courtroom sequence, Malati's family was completely out of focus, needs a strong climax with strong storylines and a romantic angle that partially works.

Chhapak Movie Review: Star Performance

The character of Malati and Prosthetics needed an actor who could normalize its complex traits. Deepika Padukone hits those levels at certain points. Meghna lit the screen based on her smile and she was quite successful in it. Deepika successfully achieves a major task to maintain a balance between displaying emotions and letting her face talk.

Vikrant Massey has got a very half-baked character. He actually tries to fit into the story, but during the major part of his screen-space no solid substance can be found. From the supporting cast, Madhurjit Sargi who plays the role of a lawyer is unprecedented. Ipshita Chakraborty is superb in her cameo.

Chhapak Movie Review: Direction, Music

Let's put it this way - I hoped that if not the sword, at least the level of the quilt would be there, but Meghna Gulzar does not remember it. This may be due to maintaining the subject's sensitivity, but a lot of things are missing. She had everything on the plate to cook delicious food, but she toyed with the ingredients. Meghna chooses to end on a shocking note but she too misses the landing for me. After a hasty and predictable ending, Meghna takes an unconventional route to end the climax.

The right decision has been taken to include just two songs in the film but Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy fails to impress with the romantic track, Nok Jhok. The title track by Arijit Singh has all the right chords and is completely soul-moving. The background score is unregistered and may not improve.

Chhapak Movie Review: The Last Word

All said and done, Chhapak makes a bold statement to disclose punitive punishment for the heinous crime of acid-attack. It manages to display pain, but remains focused through the journey of recovery. It spreads unrest!
